Prospector’s Club of Southern California is one of the oldest clubs of its kind in the country. We are over thirty years old.

The club meets on the 3rd Friday of every month at the woman’s Club of Downey, 9813 Paramount Blvd., at the corner of Lubec, which is one block north of Florence in the city of Downey.

Doors open at 7:30 pm. All guests are welcome.

The club will conduct the monthly business:

·        Have a program on a topic of interest to the members.

·        Club members will display their finds of the past month so everybody can vote for the find of the month.

·        The winner gets either a trophy or a silver dollar.

·        Refreshments are served after the program

·        After the break any old and new business is conducted.

·        The meeting finishes up with several drawings, one for a $25.00 membership drawing.

·        A 50/50 drawing

·        A monthly drawing for a Tesoro metal detector (the winner must be at the meeting to claim their detector.

·        After the drawings, the ways and Means folks have their drawing.

The club also sponsors a volunteer group who donate their time by helping Law Enforcement locate weapons and other types of evidence at crime scenes.

The weekend following the club meeting is usually field trip time. The field trip can be anything from a day at the beach detecting, to a weekend on the club claims located in the Rand mining District in the Randsburg area. Where the club members can dry wash for gold or detect for nuggets.
