Prospector’s Club of Southern California is one of the oldest clubs of its kind in the country. We are over thirty years old. The club meets on the 3rd Friday of every month at the woman’s Club of Downey, 9813 Paramount Blvd., at the corner of Lubec, which is one block north of Florence in the city of Downey. Doors open at 7:30 pm. All guests are
welcome. The club will conduct the monthly
business: ·
Have a program on a topic of interest to
the members. ·
Club members will display their finds of
the past month so everybody can vote for the find of the month. ·
The winner gets either a trophy or a
silver dollar. ·
Refreshments are served after the program ·
After the break any old and new business
is conducted. ·
The meeting finishes up with several
drawings, one for a $25.00 membership drawing. ·
A 50/50 drawing ·
A monthly drawing for a Tesoro metal
detector (the winner must be at the meeting to claim their detector. ·
After the drawings, the ways and Means
folks have their drawing. ·
The drawing is stocked with silver and
other collectable coins. Meetings
usually end by 10

The club also sponsors a volunteer group who donate their time by helping Law Enforcement locate weapons and other types of evidence at crime scenes.
The weekend following the club meeting
is usually field trip time. The field trip can be anything from a day at
the beach detecting, to a weekend on the club claims located in the Rand
mining District in the Randsburg area. Where the club members can dry
wash for gold or detect for nuggets.
