This picture was taken at Ceasars Palace in 1987 of me and one of  Mel Fisher's 90 pound bar of Spanish silver from the Atocha.

 As Capricorn Enterprises  I am a factory authorized Gold Star dealer for TESORO Metal Detectors. This site will be devoted to Metal Detecting, PCSC, the Club that I belong to,  any interesting  finds I might dig up on the weekend and to my company Capricorn Detector Sales.

I have been detecting for over 15 years. I  started out panning and sluicing  for gold in Southern California. That led to my first Keene Gold Dredge, a 1 1/2" backpacker, that led to a 3" Dredge which in turn gave way to a twin engine 5HP Honda 5" beast. Every summer from 1982 to 1986 I spent every weekend I could get away, on the Merced River at Bagby, CA  dredging for the elusive yellow metal. I purchased  my first metal detector  while working part time at Keene Engineering. I still have that Whites 6000 DI PRO,   as well as an  Eagle Spectrum, but now I use a Tesoro BANDIDO II umax and the TESORO SandShark PI.

My best find to date was a contract search for a large cache of silver and gold coins here in Southern California. After a 2 day search I was able to recover for the property owner about 90Lbs of pre 1964 US Silver coins and 27oz. of Gold Bullion coins. For two weeks after I was on cloud 9. Over the years I have found my share of goodies that I had hoped would supplement my retirement, but first I have to figure out how to keep my wife's fingers  out of my goodie box.

I've been a member of the Prospector's Club of Southern California for about 10 years or so. I have served on the Board of Directors and as President for 2 years. I am currently the Program Chairman for the year 2000.

I plan on updating this work in progress once a month, with pictures of any new finds I dig up along with pictures of the Find of the Month winner from the PCSC.
